Its Been A Long Time Coming!

Good evening kids!

I am sitting at my house, multi tasking. Every Monday evening for work, I pick a television show from another competing network station, and watch for all of the local commercials that are being aired. That way, I can watch for any new potential clients, and also see if any of my clients are cheating on me... haha. So I am watching Dancing with the Stars (don't laugh) and recording commercials, while also writing on my blog.

It has been a couple weeks since you folks have last heard from me. I have been really busy with both of my jobs, and fitting in work outs. Since the last time I have posted, I have completed my longest bike ride of the year (50 miles), longest swim of the year (30 laps), and longest run of the year (4 miles). I have also signed up for my first Triathalon of of year... The Siouxperman Tri in Sioux Center IA. I was rather reluctant to enter into the event, as I wasn't really excited to pay $60 to enter the race, just to find out how out of shape I am. But a fellow co worker (and triathlete), and my wife were telling me I have to do this one to gauge just exactly how far, or close I am to being where I want to be at this stage of the training.

I will be the first one to tell you that I haven't strictly followed a game plan as to a path to the promised land of Tri's, but I have been working out to maintain and continue to grow my endurance, and will continue to get better week by week, and be in fine form come September.

So whats up with this Siouxperman Tri??? Its very much a sprint to the finish. It consists of 300M Swimming, 25k Bike, and a 5k run. I will not expect to break records, but at the same time, I do want to do good. This is my first ever outdoor triathalon with true transitions, so it will be as much of a learning experience, as well as a great gauge of endurance.

To be honest, I haven't been this excited to be a part of an athletic event since I played college basketball. Its nice to get involved in sport again, and I cannot wait to see how it unfolds.

I will have all of the details about this weekend posted on here ASAP. And oh yeah, did I mention to that my good pal Kenny works at the Country Club in Sioux Center, and has hooked up with a Saturday afternoon tee time with the locals. Thanks Buddy!

Until Next Time!

Holy Cow its been a LONG time since the last time I have posted anything! Even though this next statement I am about you make is the lamest excuse in the world, I'm still going to say it because I can't think of a better one... I simply havent had enough time to sit down and write out my thoughts of my past week. But now that I have a few moments, here is a recap of my past week.

I recently have picked up a part time job at a local bike shop in town called Spoke-N-Sport. I have been working at KDLT from 8a-5p, rushing home for a quick bite to eat, and then leaving once again to jet down to Spoke-N-Sport for training on how to sell cycling. Thus far this job seems like a great idea. I am learning a bunch about the sport, and can't wait to jump into product knowledge. Besides my huge hourly wage, the best part of the job is two fold... one side, I am surrounding myself with good people in the cycling community who all are thus far, extremely helpful. The other side is that I get a kick ass discount that in itself, makes my job worth it and then some. So all of you Sioux Fallsians, stop by Spoke-N-Sport every other Saturday to see come fantastic bikes, and to say hello to me! Spoke-N-Sport is an awesome little shop, which prides itself on quality product, and generous customer service.

My real job at KDLT is going really great. Things are coming together, and sales are becoming more and more of a daily norm. Its fun to see my hard work on television, watching commercials that I have placed to help businesses grow in this economy. If any of my followers know of great businesses looking for a new marketing path, shoot me a text or phone me! I promise I will take good care of them!

I am getting out and training for the Ironman. Probably not as much as I need to, but something is better than nothing. I have done all three disciplines this week, and felt good in each. I have been doing some research to find a decent training plan to follow along my Ironman path, and I think I have found one that seems to be a good fit. The plan can be found here. Its a 20 week plan that if followed, will do the trick.

Also, Paula and I were able to get out on our bikes together for the first time this year. The picture of us above was from our ride!

I do feel bad for not posting for awhile, but hang tough with me, like a good wine, this blog will get better with time!
